Whether furloughed, working from home or attempting the superhuman task of teaching, parenting and working simultaneously, our working lives have changed radically.
Remote working has removed the boundaries between work, home and family life and forced us to consider whether we need to readdress this balance. Is the way we work outdated – just a hang up from industrialisation that we should long be rid of? Are we ready for a rethink of our 9-5?
Discussing mental health, productivity, office culture and our work-life balance with chair Hashi Mohammed, Bruce Daisley (The Joy of Work), James Suzman (Work: A History of How We Spend Our Time) and Emma Gannon (The Multi-Hyphen Method) ask: when we stitch society back together, what should our work lives look like?
This event is part of The Citizens’ Manifesto series in which we want to bring people together to share stories, make sense of this moment and discuss the choices we now face for the future.
We want to know what’s important to you; what are you concerned about, hopeful for and looking forward to in the future? What elements of our lockdown lives should we maintain? And what has been exposed as outdated?
