As the first international war crimes tribunal, Nuremberg represented a revolutionary moment in the development of international law and saw the Western powers working in partnership with the Soviet Union. Often seen as a triumph of liberal idealism, did they bring “closure” to the nightmare of Nazism, and is their legacy as great as is sometimes claimed? 75 years since their establishment following the conclusion of the Second World War, Allan Mallinson is joined by William Shawcross (Deliver Us From Evil: Peacekeepers), Anne Sebba (Les Parisiennes) and Dan Todman (Britain’s War: New World Volume 2) to examine the questions.
